Catering
Jamboree Denmark 2026 focuses on making our catering more sustainable through greener meals and more resource conscious purchases. By taking responsibility for the food we eat, we help safeguard nature and reduce our carbon emissions.
The food we eat is a good place start as our experience from our 2022 jamboree showed that catering and transport was the two largest sources of green house gas emissions.
Therefore we decided tohat:
- The meals will follow the official Danish recommendations and they wil bee primarily vegetarian. We estimate that around 500,000 vegetarian meals will be served during the jamboree.
- We focus on using seasonal produce.
- Buying local food stuffs as that is both practical and sustainable for the jamboree.
- Coordinate purchasing and stock levels across the jamboree to reduce unnecessary purchasing and food waste.
- Develop a vegetarian cookbook with recipes adapted to camp life.
The entire organisation have taken part in these decisions both before and during the jamboree.
We measure our impact by:
- The amount of green house gas emissions estimated based on the purchase of food stuffs.
- Food waste estimated based on the amount of biological waste sent to recycling.
