Consumption and circularity

Social responsibility Consumption and circularity

Jamboree Denmark 2026 has an expanded focus on purchasing material, recycling, renovation, and circularity. Overall the effort is on lower material usage, higher recycling and better documentation,

The Jamboree Planning Organisation has working concretely in this area through the following efforts:

  • Lessen food waste through internal handling of produce between food deliveries and volunteer canteens.
  • Sorting and reusing of garbage takes place at eight different divisions at the jamboree. Read more about the journey of garbage after the jamboree her
  • Cross coordination of procurement and food to kitchens, canteens, and cafés during the jamboree
  • Food left over at the end of the jamboree, which can not be returned, can, after a first come, first served principle, be picked up by groups and leaders at the end of the jamboree
  • The initiative “New life” and a planned auction at the end of the jamboree- in a continuation of efforts from Jamboree Denmark 2026- will help secure the most reuse, recycling and further distribution of material in connection with the dismantling of the jamboree
  • We have chosen to not produce t-shirt for volunteers, but will instead give the opportunity for them to get the jamboree logo printed onto their own t-shirts at joint planning weekends

The area Campsite and Camp Life has the responsibility for renovation, recycling and circularity at the jamboree. The area has chosen to primary focus areas in their work with sustainability; 1) Handling of garbage, including easy and correct sorting close to cafés and canteens, and 2) Minimising food wastle, especially through better coordination of excess across supply deliveries, canteens and cafés.

The Activities and Events Section has a responsibility for the cross purchasing of materials through the Central Shopping Platform. The Jamboree has a shopping policy that requires everyone to consider sustainability in their purchases. The jamboree also collects a large part of the purchases in a central platform (CIP) and supplement with a material exchange to lessen new purchases, raise the quality and make correct packing and recycling easier. This joint storage setup ensures an overview before, during and after the jamboree, so that materials can later be distributed for storage, sale, resupply, return or, when necessary, renovation. Additionally, there are agreement with the head-suppliers- herein return of unused goods- will especially reduce waste.
