Energy supply and use

The most important efforts are on measuring the energy use, while a host of other smaller measures are focused on minimizing the overall use. Precise measurement and a well planned supply can help to make it easier to implement battery solutions to ease the burden on the energy supply during peak periods at future jamborees.

A significant goal for the work with the climate impact from the energy use is to collect and secure data, which can create a basis for comparison and concrete goals at future jamborees

The Jamboree Planning Organisation have worked concretely with this theme through the following efforts:

• Measuring electricity usage at specific supply points.
• Measuring use of fuel from diesel generators.
• Measuring use of fuel from heavy transport.
• Supply planning in regards to optimising electricity usage.
• Setting aside excess wood and poles for wood-chipping and subsequent use in district heating plants.

Efforts are anchored in the area of infrastructure and readiness, who have the responsibility for supply of electricity and fuel and operating diesel generators. The latter has been estimated as necessary to have at the jamboree to secure the jamboree’s safety of supply during, among other things, large events. The area Camp Site and Camp Life has the responsibility for the supply of wood during the jamboree.

Energy usage is expected to be measure and reported in the Jamboree Planning Organisation’s sustainability report on the basis of the following indicators.

• Greenhouse gas emissions from the use of electricity, disel, wood and gas.
